With only 6 weeks until this years Mud Run we asked fitness instructor Rachel, from Civvy Street Boot Camp, what we can all do to prepare ourselves for the JCB Mud Run!
The mud run is nearly upon us! So how is the training coming on?
We at Civvy Street Bootcamp have stepped up our training, after weeks of upper body exercises running, and core work, we thought we would try something a bit different. With an 18 acre field we got some people together, and built ourselves a mini mud run.
Working on the upper body, we used sandbags of different sizes and took them up and down hills, hoping this would help with endurance. You can do this in any park or field, placing them over your shoulders and try and run up a hill, on the way back down watch your step, keeping the body upright.
We also got some obstacles, tyres, tubes, going over and under, with running in-between through a stream of water, just so everyone got the idea of how they would feel running with wet feet/legs/clothes.
We finished off with a muddy circuit, using posts, rope, tyres in a quick fire round of lifting, pulling, pushing.
With still 6 weeks left, we are still working hard and have lots planned in our training.
We are in the park each week using different parts of the park equipment as obstacles, to get ourselves ready for the muddy fun at the JCB MUD RUN!
